CANY’s Assessment and Design service for building enclosures on existing buildings is much more than fulfilling the demands of New York’s Façade Inspection and Safety Program (FISP).
As you would expect, we have staff qualified to undertake FISP inspections, as well as support teams to work with contractors to resolve any issues and prepare and submit all the required documentation for filing (see FISP Service page). But our Assessment and Design service goes further. It offers CANY’s extensive experience to make comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of any detrimental conditions relating to a building enclosure, whether in the FISP program or not. It assesses any issues, current or potential, and determines their root cause, before designing a complete solution that will typically include measures to mitigate against expensive more complex problems and compounded failures in the future.
Our Assessment and Design service aligns all that we do, drawing on CANY’s wide-ranging experience in engineering, architecture, conservation, restoration, material testing, and sustainability. We have project teams who get up-close, using Industrial Rope Access when appropriate, assess and analyze what’s found and design long-term solutions to remedy the cause, not just the symptoms. We have a deep bench of licensed architects and engineers with authority to sign off on all aspects of the work involved, which not only expedites the process, but ensures professional oversight on the frontline, from the field to the paperwork that anchors the whole project.
